Packaging of drill rods and casings from GDE

Packaging of exploration drill rods and casings will be standardized, from all factories and sub-contractors; Atlas Copco Exploration Products (North Bay, Canada), Jans Metaalbewerking (Zonhoven, Belgium) and Christiansen Chile S.A. (Santiago, Chile). The new packaging will be phased in over the next months as old packaging stocks are used up and new packaging is available from suppliers.

Details

All drill rods and casings will:

  • Be in standard quantity and packaging
  • Have phosphate treatment on the pin end (not applicable for conventional rod)
  • Have a sequential batch code mechanically stamped or engraved into the thread run-out of the tool joint. Batch codes will be logged for quality control and traceability to the raw material mill certificates from the tubing suppliers (not applicable for convential rod and casing
  • Be oiled with Castrol Rustillo 4135 or Valvoline BT (any substitute must be approved by Atlas Copco Explorations Products, Canada)
  • Have colour coded protective metal end caps lined inside with certified wood: Black = T Thread and Casing, Yellow = All other rod threads
  • Have tie-rods along the length of the bundle joining the end caps
  • Have banding or strapping in the mid body area of the bundle
  • Have an Atlas Copco label on the bundle end caps identifying the product by size, part number and bundle quantity
